The goal of this one-hour Twitter Roundtable Chat is to gather a wide range of expert opinions regarding the rapidly changing streaming TV landscape and key trends that will affect consumers, device manufacturers and content providers. We have lined up an expert panel to field our questions, including: trade reporters, industry executives, analysts and consultants.
As we discussed in our post The Coming Disconnect, there is a standoff looming between two trends. It is about the growing availability of unbundled TV content vs. ever-improving video standards, and the Internet and home networking technologies that sit in-between. Will technology deliver on the promise of more choices – or will a disconnect compromise user experience and slow cord cutting growth?
We will explore topics such as:
- The growth of unbundled and streaming TV
- Added demands of UHD 4K
- Bandwidth bottlenecks in the last mile and in the home WiFi network
- Recent changes like net neutrality and HTTP 2.0
- Where are the points in the network that congestion is actually occurring?
- Solutions and workarounds
- Prospects for streaming growth and user experience
