It has taken Giraffic Inc. fewer than six months to cross the one million end-users mark for its futuristic, smart, completely distributed video-on-demand (VoD) acceleration technology. Giraffic Inc made its debut in March this year and amassed 500,000 users around two months ago. They claim to be gaining around 10,000 new users every day.
In a release, Yoel Zanger, CEO and founder of Giraffic says, “The overwhelming success of the Giraffic Video Acceleration Cloud has surpassed even our own expectations and we invite millions more to join and try the most technologically-advanced video acceleration cloud in the fast-growing video streaming industry.”
Sites tests that have been installed are steadily showing an increase in speed and an offload of around 80 percent of the user traffic out of CDN and onto Giraffic’s Fully Distributed Video Streaming Cloud.
Based on data collected for recent customer operations, Giraffic has demonstrated the important ability of being able to handle Peak Hour volumes without hampering end user experience or taking on any bandwidth constraints. Client CDN, their origin servers or even their telecom/ISP network is left unhindered. This ability is particularly of interest to potential customers since recent reports talk of currently popular large such as Netflix and YouTube (News - Alert) accounting for more than 50 percentof North America’s bandwidth in peak hour consumption.
There are some great results demonstrated by Giraffic’s recent deployment. On a monthly basis, Giraffic’s cloud is being used to deliver several hundred terabytes of video. There has been a significant improvement in streaming experiences. Pauses for rebuffering and initial playback have been majorly reduced especially for video files where viewership is less than 20. Giraffic’s technology is the first to allow a user to move ahead in a video and still get data from multiple sources at the same time. This is their Fully Distributed multi-source Seek Forward functionality based on peer-based video seek. This is an industry first.
